About the author: Heather Makar
Heather Makar, Biohacker, Researcher, Writer, Artist, has been interested in natural ways of healing the body since she was a child, when her father had his first heart attacks. She understood that disease states were not random, and intuitively knew that there had to be a better way to live than to depend on pharmaceuticals and surgeries to survive. Information was not as freely available then, and her childhood weight problem became adult obesity. When she began suffering from brain fog and GERD so painful she thought she was having a heart attack, her passion for regaining health by natural means flared to life, and she pursued many educational paths during her journey. As she learned, she was able to reverse her digestive conditions through dietary changes, eating a grain-free, whole food diet. She became enthralled with epigenetics as she understood more of the two-way conversation we have with our genes. Heather is certified through Precision Nutrition to educate others on food and supplement choices, and continues to study nutrigenetics and nutrigenomics to further personalize the way food plans are developed. She studies functional fitness, traditional Chinese medicine, and Japanese shibori dyeing. Her primary research goal is extending functional longevity.
